ROOM AMENITIES
Charming villas and chalets, all positioned at the most breath-taking spots specifically designed for space, comfort and utmost privacy. While some lie remotely hidden amidst luxuriant greens, others are perched high above the turquoise lagoon. For the modern traveler, it’s a fashionably rustic vacation spot. JapaMala’s chic concoction of rustic beauty & contemporary flair adorn the nature-inspired traditional living space, depicting the beauty and elegance of ‘old and new’ in modern Asian living.

Plants, animals and land have been disturbed as little as possible. It's been our goal to build around nature - to respect and preserve the inherent beauty of this destination; to coexist with all who dwell here. Great care has been taken to minimize any environmental impact. No rocks were moved, no trees were cut down. As a result no two Villas are the same. Each is unique - taking on the character of the land upon which it is built.

Tree Top Chalet
Perched high above the luxuriant jungle canopy, these chalets are secluded yet situated only a short walk up from the beach. These rooms offer an entirely different resort experience, in fact their very proximity to nature make these chalets so keenly sought after. Here you'll find the noise of the jungle predominates: the soft rustle of windblown leaves; the chirping of crickets and birds; and the foraging of wild creatures at night.

Sea Cliff Chalet
Imagine the simplicity of the traditional living space adorned with a modern chic. Stunning views of the South China Sea and balmy breezes of the sea. Bask in the most glorious tropical sunsets with a sun-down at the balcony. Each chalet is unique and offers a unobstructed view even from your shower room. Divided only by glass, take in the evening colors and the surrounding beauty of the bay below. Watch life drift idly by on the ebbing tide, the gentle lapping of waves seem to bring inner peace...

Jungle Sarang Villa
Jungle Sarangs are ‘nests' tucked away on the lower terrain of the resort. They're adorned with an open-air bath tub with the rainforest as its backdrop, hidden enough to allow total privacy. A spacious private living area good for dining, sunning or simply relaxing, you really could be forgiven for never venturing from your nest.  The Sarang is distinctively designed for the total experience of living comfortably in the jungle without foregoing the finer things in life.

Hillside Plunge Pool Sarang Villa
These Plunge-Pool Sarangs are split-leveled rooms and are perched high on the hillside. These ‘love nests' also come with private features - a hydro pool, outdoor shower, timber dining deck and tanning bed with basic treats like exclusive spa toiletries, a complete mini bar with wines, champagne, flavored teas, hot chocolate and an Espresso machine. Like all the other Sarangs, these plunge-pool Sarangs bear a unique ambience - a refreshing combination of luxury and nature. Perfectly designed for a dream holiday, be seduced by its sense of adventure and some serious relaxation.

Seaview Pool Sarang Villa
There is only one such villa of this kind at JapaMala currently and it's our largest, most lavish room. SARANG is derived from the Malay language, meaning ‘nest'. This 'love nest' rests on a low terrain and is built with a kitchenette and a semi-outdoor dining room. Adding to the opulent comforts of a 'jungle luxury' holiday are some extra special features; a bathroom with both sky view and the jungle view, a private swimming pool, timber sun deck as well as a separate open-air hydro pool. The Sarangs' unique ambience owes itself to a refreshing combination of luxury and nature. Secluded and romantic, this villa evoke a dreamlike feeling of opulence and adventure - a distinctive ambience that relaxes yet inspires. One that will stay with you long after you leave our shores. Basic treats : exclusive spa toiletries, a complete mini bar with wines, champagne, flavored teas, hot chocolate and an Espresso machine.

FOOD & BEVERAGE
Tamarind Terrace
Tamarind Terrace is the sister restaurant to award-winning Tamarind Hill & Tamarind Springs in KL. This restaurant is open to the luxuriant rainforest in the background and the beach only a stone's throw away at its front. Stone-carved statues of Buddha adorn the wide dining space exuding Asian elegance that shapes the theme of Tamarind Terrace. Palatable Thai, Indo-Chinese & Malay cuisine is served here. Relish true recipes hand-picked by our IndoChinese and Malay chefs. Opens daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, a selection of Western breakfast is also available.

Mandi-Mandi Restaurant
Mandi-Mandi Restaurant is the latest edition to the resort's collection of aesthetic spots. It's built on stilts to hover above the sea some 100m away from the beach front. Another open-concept dining venue with overhung pavilions becomes the perfect tanning station for sun lovers! Serves global cuisine with an Italian emphasis with a range of creative beverages to go with all day long. Opens for lunch and dinner only. Nightly BBQs are done here to celebrate that typical tropical romance below the stars

GETTING AROUND
Tioman is a relatively undeveloped island - getting around is done mostly by trekking or by sea taxi. JapaMala Resort has its own boat which is available for hire on an hourly or per day basis. There is a rough road between Tekek and Juara - on the East side of the Island - local operators will drive you there for approx RM35 one way.

FLIGHTS
Regular daily flights to Tioman are available all year round. We would recommend these during the Monsoon season due to the possibility of rough seas.

We strongly advise you to fly in because the ferry/speedboat services from Mersing are deemed unreliable. At anytime should there be cancellation of trips hence causing a situation of being stranded at point of departure to Tioman, and this applies to both air and sea transportation, Japamala Resort shall not be held responsible for such predicament therefore will not refund any payment made earlier for booking of rooms.
